UK 'drought' hitting the PSN this month?

Apparently, there is going to be no Playstation Classics released for May, but let's face it - 2012 hasn't exactly been rife with the retro fruit. Until June, PSN users will be able to grab ahold of the Playstation 2 classic Max Payne which is released today (2nd May) for around £7.99. U.S gamers (and Europeans with an american account), can also download the PSOne RPG Legend of Dragoon this week for around $9.99.

In other news, Japan started celebrating the 25th anniversary of Kirby with a release of the Kirbys Adventure games.

Are NES Classics on their way to Nintendo 3DS?

With the recent release of the original Legend of Zelda on the Nintendo eShop, there has been talk about more NES classics making their way to the system in the coming months. The 3DS Virtual Console has been sparse in all regions, with only a few notable releases appearing online since the systems launch last year. Could the Ambassador Program titles be on the horizon - this time with the price tag?

The eShop release of The Legend of Zelda also marks the upcoming 26th anniversary of the game.

Commadore founder Jack Tramiel passes away, aged 83

Starting out with typewriters in the 1940's, Jack Tramiel set up the Commadore brand as a business venture. As PC's were being introduced in the 1970's he stepped up to the likes of Apple and Atari and produced his own line of computer systems. Among these was the Commadore 64, which was not only one of the best selling home computers of all time, but a classic retro gaming system.

He later went on to buy Atari and compete in the industry with handheld systems, most notably the Atari Lynx.
